Brianna Young

Journalism and Media Studies, Multimedia

Brianna Young is a student at Jackson State University with a focus on media, storytelling, and digital content creation. Her work centers on amplifying underrepresented voices and using multimedia platforms to tell stories that matter.

Her capstone project, Her Degree, Their Rules, explores the gap between Black women’s educational achievement and their representation in leadership roles. Through interviews, data, and interactive storytelling, Brianna highlights the lived experiences of Black women navigating professional spaces, particularly in the South.

Brianna has gained hands-on experience through internships in communications and radio, where she developed skills in content creation, audience engagement, and media production. She has also worked on campaigns involving well-known artists, helping to build brand presence and connect with audiences on HBCU campuses.

Her work is driven by a commitment to representation, authenticity, and creating space for stories that are often overlooked. She aims to continue building a career in media and communications, using storytelling as a tool to inform, empower, and inspire.
